The rules that apply in Toronto

If you are divorcing, child support comes from the federal Divorce Act and the Federal Child Support Guidelines. If you were never married, or are separated but not divorcing, it comes from the Family Law Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. F.3. Once there is an order or agreement, the Family Responsibility Office can collect and enforce payments. To update support without going to court, Ontario offers: Child Support Service (online).
